The first Fatburger - originally called Mr. Fatburger - was opened by Lovie Yancey in Los Angeles in 1947. The chain expanded mostly in California before nationwide franchising began in 1990. Each Fatburger restaurant offers hamburgers cooked-to-order, along with sandwiches, salads, fries and onion rings.
