The first Lizarran restaurant opened its doors in 1988 in Sitges, a coastal town in the Barcelona area, and began franchising in 1998. This was an original idea that sought to export the experience of small open sandwiches, or “pinchos”, traditional in northern Spain, to other areas. The reception was so positive that expansion was almost instantaneous, marking the start of an evolution that has made the brand remain at the forefront of the Spanish restaurant trade.
